A U.S. FDA briefing document posted on the regulator’s web site for the July 15 Advisory Committee meeting to review Vivus Inc.’s (VVUS) anti-obesity drug Qnexa acknowledges the drug candidate’s efficacy in reducing body weight but indicates that safety issues will be deliberated by the panel of experts.

Specialty pharmaceutical company Hi-Tech Pharmacal Co., Inc. (HITK) reported Tuesday an increase in fourth-quarter profit helped by revenue growth. Quarterly earnings missed Street view, while revenues surpassed their expectations. Shares are down over 6% in the morning trade.
